Area's First HS21 Graduates

Four area students fulfilled the requirements to earn a high school (HS21) certificate through Big Bend Community College during the 2014-15 academic year. The HS21 program offers students ages 21 and older the opportunity to complete their high school requirements by producing a portfolio of evidence based on prior learning, community service, occupational experience, high school transcripts, 2002 Series GED test scores, current appraisals, special projects, and coursework.

The first local students to complete the program were Sherry Crinklaw, Rodrigo Cruz, Jolena Mills, and Aleesha Wall. These students entered the program needing eight or fewer credits to complete their high school work however, some students in the Big Bend Community College service area of Grant and Adams counties began with no high school credits and were able to build a portfolio of evidence that fulfilled the requirements and allowed them to graduate this spring.

For information on how to take the steps toward completing the requirements for a high school diploma, please contact Linda Black at lindab@bigbend.edu or 633-3611.
