After grade checks Wednesday, seven players were declared ineligible for the match. "The result was... Full story
The Lady Raider softball team opened the season at home Saturday to two losses. “It was a tough day for the Lady Raiders,” Head Coach Jamie Lezard said. “We had too many errors, left too many base runners out there, and were having a hard time finding the strike zone.” Lezard said both games against the Bridgeport Fillies ended in the third inning, due to the mercy rule. The Fillies had an offensive edge on the Lady Raiders. In the first game, Lake Roosevelt scored 10 runs but gave up 21. In the second, the Fillies tallied up 18 to the Lady Ra... Full story

Here in the west, we understand that there is much truth in the old joke that whiskey is for drinking and water is for fighting. Rural and small town America depend on water and our neighbors downstream count on us to preserve the quality of that water for their use as well. And farmers and ranchers are the tip of the spear when it comes to protecting water quality because much of our surface water falls first on American farms and ranches. Recently, I testified at a U.S. Senate field hearing in Lincoln, Nebraska, regarding the Waters of the U.... Full story
It seems ironic that on the same day that a huge increase in gas prices is seen in the area, the Washington State Senate passes a $15 billion transportation package that includes an 11.7 cent per gallon gas tax increase. It is fiscal irresponsibility to put more money into the hands of WSDOT for spending on boondoggles like Western Washington projects such as Hwy. 99/Bertha and the new Hwy. 520 bridge. The 12th. district will see little of this but the taxpayers will see much in their gas expenditures. Speaking of the 12th. district, it should... Full story
