    I totally agree with Dorothy Harris; a rescue is badly needed in this area, we have no vets available on weekends, we have no place to take strays. If they were available, they would end up putting them down! Years ago I found a dog that had heat stroke/seizures; had to call the police to take it to the vet’s office. The city of Electric City called them, and after a time the poor animal was just put down, even though it never had any more seizures.   • We need a weekend vet available

    I am writing to ask the community to help in finding a way to have a veterinarian on call on the weekends. As most of us know, if our beloved pets get sick, they are probably going to do it on the weekend. I owned two Yorkies and on different occasions, each one got very ill on a Friday night. By the time I could get them in, it was too late to save them. I also have a dear friend that just lost her cat; it choked to death over the weekend with no help to be had.   • City should reconsider on car tab fee

    I have read the comments from readers on the $20-per-vehicle charge. I have NEVER lived anywhere that I was penalized for having a vehicle. I have to get to work, and that is my only means of transportation! With the price of gasoline and the "obvious" price gouging, I can barely afford gas to get to work, much less having to pay a penalty for having a car! I can't really afford another $20 on top of my license tab fees that I must pay each year! It is bad enough that our water bill goes up so much and our utilities, etc. I can barely make it... Full story
