  • Best puppet show by a dam site

    Mark Payne|Sep 18, 2019

Everyone should come to the Electric City Puppet Show before it’s over. You’ll have a chance to watch the Puppet Master work the Head Puppet and the other five. So far, the Puppet Master has gotten all the puppets to close a road, buy a car, remodel city hall, put up speed signs, put in a park and sidewalks! But have the citizens of Electric City asked for this? At the last puppet show, the Head Puppet did something totally out of character. He made a decision and the other five fell in line with that decision. Once again, it was orc...

  • Luckiest city by a dam site

    Mark Payne|Apr 17, 2019

Electric City has to be the luckiest city by a Dam site, maybe even the whole state of Washington! Why, you ask? Because Electric City was awarded a Transportation Improvement Board (TIB) Grant to close part of Western Avenue in the name of “public safety” without checking with anyone in public safety. Not the fire department, the police department or the ambulance that service the city. In my opinion, that’s Dam lucky. The residents who live on Stevens Street are even luckier than the rest of us, as you’ll get to see a lot more of your ne...

The accessory survey that the planning commission had the city mail out last September did show that the community did want some size limits on out buildings, 34% to 64%. That is why the commission put in the following restrictions: The building can only be 26 feet tall, they have 6 inches of set back for every foot over 18 feet. They also can’t be in front of the home, must be set back off of the house at least 5 feet and any street 20 feet. Furthermore, depending on what zone you l... Full story

  • Why can Grand Coulee do it faster than Electric City?

    Mark Payne|Oct 22, 2014

I’m trying to figure out how Grand Coulee was able to pass an ordinance in just a few short weeks on accessory buildings when Electric City has not been able to do it for at least a year. I am one of the people that have been trying to get bigger accessory building for over a year now. I have been to most planning meetings, public meetings and filled out surveys. Also, most city council meetings when I know they are going to talk about the issue of accessory buildings. If anyone can shed some light on this matter, I would love to hear from y... Full story

  • If you might want a building, better be heard

    Mark Payne|Apr 16, 2014

The planning meeting Tuesday the 29th of April at 7 p.m. at Electric City city hall is not just for steel buildings, it’s for any accessory building over 850 square feet built out of any materials. If you think you might ever want a garage, shop or other accessory building bigger than 850 square feet, I would suggest you come to the meeting and be heard. Mark Payne... Full story
