With North Dam Park hosting fire crews this week, the Rotary Club has moved their Spaghetti Feed fundraiser to the Church of the Nazarene. The church is located just 1/4 mile E of Grand Coulee on Hwy 174, 45925 SR 174N, Grand Coulee WA 99133. The feed will be held tonight (Friday, Sept. 14) from 4 to 8 p.m. All proceeds are going to construct a new handicapped fishing pier at Steamboat Rock State Park. Here's the latest update just in. Most of the Buffalo Lake Road Fire was quiet yesterday, giving firefighters the opportunity to continue improving containment lines and mopping up throughout its perimeter. In the southeast section, near Swawilla Basin, even with more fire activity, the rocky terrain made it difficult to thoroughly burn out the sparse fuels. SPOKANE, WA, (Aug 9, 2012) –Today, USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) announced the availability of emergeng for damage to forested lands resulting from a microburst storm of emergency funding for damage to forested lands resulting from a microburst storm on July 20, 2012. An unsafe level of a naturally occurring toxin was detected in algae blooms at Rufus Woods Lake near Bridgeport, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said Friday afternoon. Officials posted Washington State Department of Health warnings against swimming, water skiing and other in-water activities at the lake near Bridgeport. The toxin of concern is anatoxin-a, a nerve toxin produced by some blue-green algae blooms found in water bodies throughout the state. State fire assistance has been mobilized under the Washington State Fire Services Resource Mobilization Plan in support of local firefighters working to contain the Douglas County Complex Fire located near Mansfield in Douglas County. The Colville Tribes and the State of Washington have won a significant victory in the pre-trial stage of their suit against mining giant Teck Cominco, Colville Business Council Chairman Michael O. Finley said today. The tribes and the state are in litigation with Teck Cominco over its role in the pollution of the Upper Columbia and Lake Roosevelt.
