KELLER FERRY – The Keller Ferry on SR 21 across the Columbia River is out of service. One of the two engines on the vessel has some issues that require immediate repairs. Under US Coast Guard regulations the boat cannot be operated in passenger service with only one engine. Parts have been ordered and have been shipped and should arrive early tomorrow morning (Saturday, Dec. 5) and repairs will get underway, the Washington Department of Transportation said. EPHRATA, Wash. — (Updated with new information at 7:10 p.m.) At approximately 4:15 p.m. today an explosion was reported at Priest Rapids Dam along the Columbia River. At this point there are six confirmed employees with various levels of injury that have been taken to regional medical facilities via airlift or ground ambulance. All six employee families have been notified. The extent of their injuries is unknown at this time. LAKEVIEW, Wash. (27AUG2015) – The Richland Police Bomb Squad assisted Grant County Sheriff’s Deputies on Wednesday night when a small homemade explosive device was found along a road. Grant County Deputy Fire Marshal Nathan Poplawski says employees at Inland Tarp and Cover, 4172 North Frontage Road East, accidentally ignited a fire while using a metal chop saw. Southwest Washington - On January 4, 2015, troopers in Lewis County were called to a two vehicle collision on State Route 12 involving a passenger car and semi-truck. The driver of the passenger car, Mr. Jay Sume of Randle, WA, was fatality injured when the vehicle he was driving crossed the center line, impacting the front of the semi-truck. The Keller Ferry was put back into service early Monday morning, Oct. 6, after a weekend of repairs, the DOT said. Weekend drivers who planned on using the Keller Ferry to cross the Columbia River via State Route 21 will need to find another route. KELLER FERRY – The Keller Ferry vessel, Sanpoil, is back in service as of 6 a.m. this morning (Monday, Sept. 15), after hull seepage repairs were made.
