  • Oppose Dollar General

    Wiyaka Steinke|Nov 23, 2022

I agree with Janis Heuvel’s letter to the editor from Nov.16th concerning Dollar General. I feel it would be detrimental to our community and especially our local businesses to allow a Dollar General to come to our area. It would essentially put the Coulee Wall Variety Store and the local residents who own and operate it out of business. After driving 40 mph through that stretch for 16 years, it’s apparently made its way into my DNA as I catch myself on a daily basis still driving 40 and having to slow myself down. I understand changing the limit during construction of the new fire station, but after completion, my personal feelings are that the limit should be raised again, as I know most law-abiding Americans already know to slow down and pull over whe...

  • Citizens of Electric City should make their voices heard

    Wiyaka Steinke|Dec 31, 2014

If you are considering putting up a fence, accessory structure, shop or garage (in Electric City), now is your chance to be heard. The ordinances are changing! There will be a public meeting at 3 p.m., on Tuesday, Jan. 6, at the Electric City Hall. Please come to this important meeting (even though its time is totally inconvenient for most of us who work) and let your voices be heard. Wiyaka Steinke...
