  • Raiders prevail over Entiat Tigers

    The Raiders defeated Entiat at home on the 11th due in part to a high scoring fourth quarter. LR won by the score of 51-42 over the Tigers to improve the Raiders' win-loss record to 5-4 overall. The Raiders started slow as the first field goal of the game came with four minutes left in the first quarter. Entiat took advantage of the Raider sluggishness to take the lead 10-9 at the end of the first quarter.   • Wrestlers place highly across state

    Five of 12 Raider wrestlers placed in last weekend’s Rainier tournament, securing a ninth-place finish for Lake Roosevelt at the 17-team tournament. Some teams at the Sgt. Justin Norton Memorial Tournament split their JV wrestlers off, increasing the scored squads to 31 at the event on the other side of the Cascades.     Friends of Rachel and SHARP Kids will sponsor a Family Movie Night in the Grand Coulee Dam Middle School gym Jan. 22. The event is open to all families in the community.   • Central Washington 2B League to alter dramatically in the near future

    The opt-up deadline for the 2014-16 classification cycle has passed and the final number counts are in. The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association’s 2B category will hold 59 schools in the new classification cycle, up 11 from the current cycle. The number spread for 2B in the 2014-16 cycle will be 92-225 students in grades 9-11. After a heated school board meeting, in which many spoke for and against moving down, Okanogan decided to drop down to 2B rather than opt up to 1A.     Grand Coulee Police 1/3 - A man reported that his $225 boots were missing from his locker at the 500 Kv Switchyard. He last remembered seeing the boots about a month ago. - A Grand Coulee man called to report that his live-in girlfriend had taken his car and he wanted it back. Later the woman contacted police to ask if she was going to be arrested. She was told then that it might be a good idea to take the car back.   • Spring, fall cleanup dates set

    The Regional Board of Mayors have set spring and fall cleanup dates, when residents can take their garden and lawn waste to the transfer station for free dumping. The spring date for Electric City, Grand Coulee, Coulee Dam and Elmer City and other residents within the garbage pickup area is April 5-12, which covers two Saturdays. In addition, Electric City and Grand Coulee will provide curbside pickup April 14-18 for those unable to haul to the transfer station.   • Shoreline plan consultant hired

    Coulee Dam’s council gave Mayor Greg Wilder authority to sign an agreement with a Wenatchee firm, SCJ Alliance, to update the town’s Shoreline Master Plan. The project is funded by the state and will keep the town in compliance with the 1971 Shoreline Management Act. The firm, SCJ Alliance, is also developing the shoreline plans for Grand Coulee and Electric City.
