  • Eight wrestlers advance to regionals

    Eight of nine Raider wrestlers competing finished in the top six of their weight brackets at the North Sub-Regional tournament at Northwest Christian Feb. 8, sending them on to the next step on the way to the state tournament in Tacoma. “Eight wrestlers will move on to regionals,” said Head Coach Steve Hood. “We had a good tournament.” Lake Roosevelt had two sub-regional champions. At 145 pounds, Kodie Horn swept the field to come home as sub-regional champ. Octavio Alejandre is the North Sub-Regional champ at 285 and looks to continue his win... Full story

  • Valentine's Day social set for the middle school

    Grand Coulee Dam PTA will be holding a Valentine’s Day Social for the GCD Middle School on Friday, Feb. 14. From 2:45 to 4:45, an Xbox dance party and karaoke will be held for grades seventh and eighth. Admission will be $2. From 4:45 to 6:45 there will be a Valentine’s Day Dance with admission at $3.00. Concessions of hotdogs, candy, pop, water and popcorn will be available. Volunteers are needed. Contact Mrs. Caddy at 509.429.7187 for more information.   • Basketball tourney this weekend

    The annual Nespelem All Indian Basketball Tournament is set for February 14-16. Games will be held on Feb. 14 at the Nespelem Community Center and Nespelem Grade School beginning at 5 p.m. On Feb. 15, games will be held at Grand Coulee Middle School, LRHS and the Nespelem Community Center with 8 a.m. tip-offs and on Feb., 16 games will begin at 8 a.m. at the GCD Middle School, LRHS and the Nespelem Community Center. Admission will be charged at the game - $5 for adults, $3 for students and seniors and $1 for 6 and under.... Full story

    Grand Coulee Police 2/4 - A Grand Coulee man reported the theft of some medications and $20 cash. When police asked him about it, he replied that he didn’t want to be contacted by police. The officer provided the man with a statement form. 2/5 - A woman on B Street told police that her intoxicated boyfriend yelled at her and threatened to throw her out of the house. When the officer arrived, the boyfriend was asleep and the woman said she hadn’t been hit or abused, only yelling had occurred. She was given a New Hope kit. - A student at Cen... Full story
