  • Tennis beats the rain in a tie-breaker kind of week

    John McNeil II|Apr 30, 2014

Three home tennis matches against White Swan came down to tiebreaks, with LR winning all three April 22. The weather became a factor as the matches, played on both the high school courts and the Coulee Dam Community Courts in Cole Park, had to be delayed for two hours due to rain. The delay meant that the final match was not completed until 8 p.m. Daniel Campobasso’s singles match against Tre Deleon finished with a 10-8 tiebreak. Tyler Agosto and Edmond Fenton won their doubles match in a 1... Full story

  • Baseball goes two for three

    John McNeil II|Apr 30, 2014

The league-leading Mountain Lions held the Raiders to one run April 22 at Liberty Bell, defeating Lake Roosevelt 6-1, but LR did not stay down, as the Billygoats were to discover. The Pateros Billygoats travelled to Greene Field Saturday for a doubleheader that was pushed ahead from 11 a.m. to 9:30 for the first game. Roger S Lucas|Apr 30, 2014

The school board Monday night agreed to put a red metal roof on the gym, matching the roof of the new school, and to try to match the siding that is now going up on the new school. It all depends on the money, the school board stated. Members of the board asked Superintendent Dennis Carlson to return to next month’s... Full story

  • C'est La Vie trois

    Frankie Delano|Apr 30, 2014

There were a few hyper-milers (snail drivers) in the Coulee last week-end, starting on Thursday afternoon with a few more driving in slow motion on some of the streets in Grand Coulee and Electric City on Friday and again on Saturday morning, on the hunt for a moving sale and another sale, advertised as in a garage but actually outdoors. And yes, slowing down to a snail’s pace makes a difference when there’s foot traffic on the streets and drivers “putting on the brakes,” sometimes with only inches to spare, thus avoiding a rear ender. I witne... Full story
