Grand Coulee Police 5/12 - Police went to Coulee Medical Center where a man who had been brought there by Tribal Police on a drug-related issue refused help and signed himself out of the hospital. The man lingered in the waiting area and refused to leave until the officer told him that since he had signed himself out he was trespassing. The Lady Raider softball team pulled off a big upset at the District 5-6 tournament last weekend when they beat Bridgeport to move on to the state tournament in Yakima this weekend. This move toward state started with the Lady Raider 15-9 win at White Swan May 14, when LR put together a solid game of defense and had three girls bat above .500. Keya Fast Horse hit everything that was thrown her way, Tristan Adolph batted .750 for the game, and Riley Epperson was .600 at the plate. Chyenne Kelly-Marconi, Alexia Hanway, and Octavio Alejandre are moving on to the state track and field meet at Eastern Washington University this weekend after qualifying in last weekend’s District 5-6 meet at Ephrata High School. Registration night for Summer Rocks and the SHARP Kids Middle School Summer Program is Thursday, May 23 from 4-6:30 p.m. at the Grand Coulee Dam School District Office. LR Babe Ruth started their summer season last week as they took on Omak May 14 for a single game at Greene Field. Jacob Palmer had the only base bit for LR, as Omak went on to win in six innings, 13-3. Coach Jeremy Miller said many of the middle school-age players showed signs of first game jitters. This wore off quickly as on the 18th when LR hosted Chelan for a doubleheader. In the first game Chelan jumped out to a two-run lead in the top of the third.
