The Lady Raiders tumultuous 2012 softball season came to an end last Tuesday at Waterville with a makeup game against the Shockers. The game originally scheduled for spring break was moved due to makeup games against Brewster. The game started out close with the score being 2 all at the end of the first. The Raiders took on the Fighting Irish of DeSales in a single-elimination game at the regional tournament in Walla Walla Saturday. DeSales took advantage of the Raiders’ mistakes on the field to score six of their 11 runs to defeat the Raiders 11-2. DeSales eventually took the regional championship. Phoenix Shephard took on Greg Sklar of Omak in a loser-out match last Saturday at Omak High School tennis courts. Shephard and Sklar competed against each other earlier in the season in a very close match that ended with a Sklar win. Enrollment falls May was the second month in a row that enrollment of Grand Coulee Dam School District students fell below the budgeted projection. Student enrollment averaged 615.44 full time students in May. Last year’s May total was 625.04 and the budgeted figure this year is 620.
