    Grand Coulee Police 5/21 - A Grand Coulee Dam Middle School student reported that her iPhone was taken from her locker. Services on the phone were cancelled and police are following up a tip on who has the phone. - A dog incident on Second Street in Electric City resulted in various threats. A woman said her dog was attacked by another dog and she told the owner if it did so again she would “kill it.” The owner of the dog that was involved in the attack told the woman he “would kill her.” Police have asked for statements from the two and fro...

    Kim Barry raced her final high school 800-meter run Saturday, to defend her state crown in stunning fashion in the race of the day. One of five Lake Roosevelt Raiders to make it to the the WIAA/Dairy Farmers of Washington/Les Schwab Tires State Track and Field Championships at Eastern Washington University, Barry returned as the state 2B 800-meter and 1600-meter champion, while also competing in the 3200 and the 400.     Tanecia Stanczak shot a 116 in the first round of play at the 1B-2B state girls golf tournament at the Oakbrook Golf and Country Club in Lakewood last Tuesday. Her score put her three over the cut to move on to the second round. Head Coach Steve Files said rain Tuesday made playing out of many bunkers and thick rough very difficult.   • Contract extended for school superintendent

    The Grand Coulee Dam School District board added another year onto Superintendent Dennis Carlson’s contract, in action recently. The added year extends Carlson’s contract to July 1, 2014. Students will be moving into the new school facility, if construction is on time, in late August to start the new school year. Carlson is serving a two-year contract, with the first year ending July 1, this year. The contract extension came after a board evaluation of the superintendent during its last meeting....
