    Masquers Theatre in Soap Lake has announced it will be casting for their fall musical “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street” on Monday and Tuesday July 27-28 at 7 p.m. Directed by Randy Brooks, Sweeney Todd is a 1979 musical thriller, with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and a book by Hugh Wheeler.     The LRHS class of 1985 will be celebrating their 30th year class reunion the weekend of August 21 and 22. Friday night, please meet at the Electric City Tavern for mingling and drinks. Saturday, picnic for family and friends at Spring Canyon starting at 11 a.m. (Bring your own picnic/beverages.) Saturday night, there will be an appetizer/potluck at the Golf Course at 7.     Grand Coulee Police 7/13 - Someone threw a rock through the window at Jack’s Spring Canyon Service but got away with only about $20 worth of items. The thief scattered Cheetos onto the parking lot. The window will cost about $100 to replace.     A mother osprey hovers near her three chicks at their nest in Coulee Dam Monday. During the recent heat, the parent birds stood over the chicks to shade them atop the 100-foot pole erected when new high power line tower construction made moving the nest from an old tower necessary.   • Aluminum cans only at the seniors

    The seniors accept aluminum cans ONLY. Please do not put cardboard, plastic bottles or other aluminum in the collection sacks. In 2013, the Seniors collected 3800 pounds (almost 2 tons) of cans and took in approximately $1500 for the Senior Center. That is approximately 30 cans for everyone in the Grand Coulee Dam area. The program helps keep the doors open at the seniors and keeps the cans out of the landfills. Please do not put other material in with the cans because we have to dispose of it and the and that raises the already high garbage...

    Electric City’s planning group is looking at its current zoning to see where a marijuana retail store might be located. The city council instructed staff and the city’s planner last week to take a look at the city’s current zoning to determine where any possible marijuana retail store might be located within the city.     A wildfire is burning on the hill just above SR 155 at North Dam and heading uphill toward structures. Firefighters are responding at 11:15 a.m. and law enforcement has been asked to close down the roadway. Grand Coulee are on scene, as well as U.S. Bureau of Reclamation personnel.
