  • Neighborhood discussion continues

    Becky Billups showed up at Grand Coulee’s council meeting last Tuesday to complain about the looks of her neighborhood. She has appeared regularly at council meetings and told mayor Chris Christopherson that she planned to continue doing so. “We want you to, it’s your city also,” the mayor responded. While things are a bit better, Billups stated about her Burdin Boulevard neighborhood, it still isn’t what she would like to see.   • District approves new hires

    The Grand Coulee Dam School District board approved a number of hires and resignations at its Monday night meeting. Hires include Marcy Doughty as a Grand Coulee Dam Middle School special programs paraprofessional; Aaron Derr, Center Elementary librarian; Lis Sem-Rodriquez, second-grade teacher; Joe Tynan, middle school special programs paraprofessional; and Andrea St. Clair as middle school head volleyball coach.   • Proctor makes dean’s list

    Cody Marie Proctor, Grand Coulee, qualified for the Dean’s List at the University of Montana for spring semester. To qualify a student must be an undergraduate, earn a semester grade average of 3.5 or higher and receive grades of A or B in at least nine credits.... Full story

  • Mansker chosen for scholarship

    Alissa Mansker of Grand Coulee, attending Washington State University, is among 28 students in the state to receive a $2,000 scholarship from the Washington State Employees Credit Union, the group announced last week. Recipients were chosen based on several criteria including academic record, financial need, community involvement and a written essay.... Full story

  • Ready to share the coulee — again

    Two years ago, we hosted an exchange student from China. His name was Charles and we loved him dearly as did many of you that got to know him. How we got him into our home was a very quick and life changing moment. It was in the middle of my sickness in January, and Karrie called me from the high school. She filled me in that this student was about to head home because he no longer had a place to live here in the Coulee. In fact, he was checking out from school and was saying his goodbyes.... Full story

  • Coulee Cops

    Grand Coulee 8/16 - Police found a large white fluffy dog loose on Burdin Boulevard. The dog was taken to the veterinary clinic and later picked up by its owner. 8/17 - A Grand Coulee man was cited for reckless driving and hit and run when the vehicle he was driving left the road on “A” Street and crashed into a utility pole. The vehicle suffered $2,000 damage and the driver had a broken nose which was treated at Coulee Medical Center.
