"The Lady Raiders trudged through a wet, muddy, and cold game on Saturday with a 6-1 loss to Tonasket," said Casey Moore, head coach for the young Lake Roosevelt soccer team. The game in Grand Coulee was the team's second to last home game on the schedule, for which the team set several goals, Moore said. Those were "to keep them from scoring 11 again, to (make) a goal, and to pass and communicate better. They were successful in all of their goals." The Lake Roosevelt Raiders suffered their first football loss of the season in a 28-22 nail biter against the Soap Lake Eagles Friday. The Raiders' win-loss record now stands at 5-1 for the season. The game saw the Eagles take an early lead, but the Raiders stayed in it as the two teams took turns scoring touchdowns. Lady Raiders volleyball had a busy schedule this past week, winning games on Tuesday and Thursday before losing one on Saturday. Lake Roosevelt won 3-2 on Tuesday in Waterville, shocking the Shockers on their home court by coming back from a 1-2 deficit, winning the tie-breaking fifth set 15-8. "We played some very up and down volleyball for the evening," said LR Head Coach Kasey Garvin. Grand Coulee Police 10/6 - An Electric City man told police that he wanted to get a no-contact court order against his father after having a dispute with him over a trailer. - Police responded to a suicidal call at a West Grand Avenue residence and talked to a woman who said she intended to harm herself. Police took her to Coulee Medical Center where it was determined that she had a high concentration of alcohol in a blood sample. This time of year we witness one of the two annual equinoxes. We recently passed through September or Autumn Equinox. Sept. 22 marked the moment the Sun crossed the celestial equator. Now, we are fast on our way to Winter or December Solstice, occurring on Dec. 21.
