    Stan Rawley of Coulee Dam, Wash., passed away at Coulee Medical Center in Grand Coulee on Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2013, at the age of 83. He was born on January 31, 1930, in Brewster, Wash. As a child, Stan's family moved to the Grand Coulee Dam area where his mother worked very hard as a switchboard operator for the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation to raise her two young sons.     A cash award of $500 is available to an Okanogan County woman for the Soroptimist Women’s Opportunity Award. This award is presented by Soroptimist International of Okanogan Valley to a woman who is head of her household and must obtain education or skills training to enter or re-enter the workforce in order to support herself and her family.     Lake Roosevelt's boys' cross country team finished second in the Central Washington B League Championship race at Liberty Bell High School last Saturday, putting themselves in good position for the district-wide meet. "All our runners worked very hard to compete and ran very strong races," Head Coach Gary Darnold said. The Raider boys took home second place with the score of 62 points.     The Lady Raiders travelled to Manson looking for league win number two last week, but slipped from a two-game lead in a letdown that led to the Trojans winning the match in five games 3-2. Raider Head Coach Nate Piturachsatit liked how the team started out the match and praised his setters. "Mikel Friedlander and Kayley Duclos set very consistently for us, which allowed us to make some strong offensive plays," he said.     LR was handed its fourth loss in a row last Friday as the Liberty Bell Mountain Lions came to Coulee Dam to lay down a 45-0 walloping on the Raiders. The Raiders are now in last place in the Central Washington 2B standings at 3-5 overall, 0-4 in League play. They are now eliminated from postseason play. LR struggled early on offense, but so did the Mountain Lions.
