  • Winners from library lighting party

    December 5th the Etheta Anderson Library hosted a “Lighting of the Library” party for the second time and over 125 people attended. All the children and adults were invited to attend and share cookies and punch provided by librarian Joette Berry, board members Terry McPherson, Christina Christopherson, Linda Black, Alberta Blanchard, Diane Canady and assistant librarians Joyce Dechenne and Dodie Boyd.     The community is invited to the Coulee Dam Community Presbyterian Church to share in a time of celebration and thanksgiving for Pastor Kevin Lind and his family. Pastor Lind has faithfully led the Community Church for over five years, and along with his wife Alisa, a second grade teacher, have actively served both their church and their community.   • Wrestlers busy with matches

    Raider wrestlers grappled in three contests last week -- two at home, against Warden Dec. 10 and a mix and match tournament Dec. 12 -- then at the Connell Invitational tourney Dec. 14, where the Raiders were the only B school present. In the dual against Warden, only nine Raiders wrestled. LR had to forfeit five matches to the Cougars, leading to the Warden win, 42-17.   • Tonasket Tigers slash Raiders

    In the first road game of the season, the Raiders travelled to Tonasket to take on the resurgent Tigers Dec. 10. The Raiders came back from first-half setbacks, but it was too little too late. Lake Roosevelt lost 70-46 to Tonasket to fall to a 1-2 overall win-loss record for the season. Tonasket used superior speed to outrun the Raiders early on. LR eventually slowed down the Tigers, but they had already built a large lead that the Raiders could not close. LR was using a new offense that had just been put in the day before.   • Ladies fall to Tigers in OT

    The Lady Raiders forced the Tonakset Tigers into overtime Dec. 10 in Tonasket, hoping for their first win of the season, but came away with an 56-51 loss, but also lot of positives. LR played much more consistent basketball, leading the Tigers at one point by seven and forcing the game to go to overtime. Raider Head Coach Wallace Pleasants said his team has been making good improvements in every game they’ve played.     The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association on Nov. 22 released student enrollment counts for its member schools for the upcoming 2014-16 classification cycle that groups competing schools by size. This is an important cycle as it is the first of a new four-year system in which the schools are divided by equal percentage and numbers in each classification (like 93-207 in the present 2B category).     Grand Coulee Police 12/9 - An Electric City man who lives on Washington Place told police that someone had taken a tow dolly from his place. The dolly cost $854.75, and was purchased in Ephrata. He gave police the serial number of the dolly. 12/10 - Dispatch requested that police check on a Swan’s delivery truck that was parked near the causeway bridge with its lights on and the driver inside.
