Ten Years Ago Workers from Basin Paving Co. finished planting the last juniper tree at the intersection of highway 155 and Kent Street in Electric City. Approximately 196 trees were planted in town as part of a beautification project. Two Lake Roosevelt coaches received honors this week announced Bruce Shields, Athletic Director at LR. Ten Years Ago A spaghetti dinner and auction was held at the Electric City Vets Center to raise money for Cindy Corpe to help pay her medical bills from a recent accident at work. $8,000 to $9,000 was raised for her medical bills and Cindy said she cried when she saw how many people showed up. It was standing room only and nearly 100 items were auctioned off. Raiders Cross Country took first at Connell Invitational last Saturday. Hoping to make a bigger impact for local business and jobs, the chamber of commerce told Coulee Dam leaders last week of its more ambitious plans for marketing the area in 2014. Peggy Nevsimal, the manager of the Grand Coulee Dam Area Chamber of Commerce, said the chamber wants to buy more advertising on the west side of the state to market the area, but it takes a lot of money. Coulee Dam, like Electric City and Grand Coulee, collects hotel/motel taxes on every room rented in the town, the funds from which must be used to promote tourism.... Full story

Those are the dates for the Grand Coulee Dam Area Chamber of Commerce’s community yard sale at North Dam Park. It’s part of the chamber’s fall Harvest Festival, with activities planned for the entire family, and even your pets. Ten Years Ago A tense situation came to a peaceful conclusion last Thursday as a Coulee Dam girl, who was feared missing returned safely. Approximately 40 minutes after Tonya Timentwa reported that her 4 year-old daughter Alahna Timentwa was missing, the girl returned to the 1101 Camas Street home. A Grand Coulee Dam Area woman cut off four of her fingers and was still able to drive herself to Coulee Community Hospital for assistance.
