    NCW Libraries is aware that some of our library patrons have been contacted by a phone scam impersonating their local library. Please note that NCW Libraries, all 30 of its branches, bookmobiles, and Mail Order library, neverpersonally call patrons to collect library fees for lost and damaged material, or to discuss personal account information.     Dave Lindhag, formerly of Almira, has been offered a special trip to Washington, D.C. on Inland Northwest Honor Flight, his wife, Judy Lindhag said in an email to The Star, asking that people meet them on their return to the airport in Spokane. “While there, Dave, and our son DJ (flying as his companion) will visit many memorials as well as the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier,” she said.     Coulee Dam Police 8/10 - Police went to River Drive where a Pontiac Grand Prix had apparently hit a tree and light pole, and the pole had fallen onto the car. The driver was upset but said she didn’t require medical attention. She showed signs of alcohol intoxication, and after performing sobriety tests, police concluded that she was intoxicated and arrested her for driving under the influence.     Grant County Health District (GCHD) is offering free COVID vaccine clinics at NCW Libraries Grant County community library locations in Coulee City, Ephrata, George, Grand Coulee, Mattawa, Moses Lake, Quincy, Royal City, Soap Lake, and Warden. These clinics offer COVID-19 primary and booster doses for all ages, 6 months and older. Only Moderna vaccines will be offered but anyone looking to get a booster can get a Moderna dose (regardless of previous vaccine types received).     Grand Coulee Police 8/3 - Loepp Furniture and Appliance reported gas siphoned from a truck, and would provide security footage. - Police were unable to find anyone matching the description of a woman reportedly walking down Roosevelt Drive screaming about her son being on drugs and held hostage. 8/5 - An officer helped a couple exit their overturned truck on SR-174 near milepost 23.     Seventeen local scouts traveled to San Juan Island for a g camping and learning adventure last month. Through a state grant, the group was able to travel and catch a ferry to Friday Harbor before setting up at Camp Bogardus, situated on a forested hillside between historical sites. The scouts left on July 15 and returned July 25.     Grant PUD’s wholesale fiber network is on pace to bring in more than $12.5 million in revenue this year, which will help ensure that the utility’s covers the cost of operating the expanding network. Terry McKenzie, Senior Manager of Grant PUD Fiber, provided that information in a quarterly fiber update to commissioners on July 12.     Grand Coulee Police 7/19 - A woman was banned from a Goodfellow Avenue location where she had allegedly broken into an RV parked there where police found some of her belongings and drug-related items that they collected to be destroyed. The owner of the RV didn’t wish to press charges but noted an ongoing issue of having to kick people out of the property.     The Ridge Riders have been busy preparing the rodeo grounds for the annual Ridge Riders Jr. Rodeo July 23-24. There can be anywhere from 125-250 kids aging from 5 to 19 years of age with their families in town for the weekend. There are currently entries from as far away as Gig Harbor, Whitefish, Montana, and Mt. Vernon, Wa.     Grand Coulee Police 7/9 - A woman explained to police that when a deer jumped onto SR-155 near the top of the Grand Coulee Dam she swerved to avoid the deer and hit a light pole. Police observed the damage to the light pole, a street sign, and her vehicle, which was towed to an impound yard in Moses Lake. 7/12 - A woman was caught paying for one item, but not another, at the hardware store in Grand Coulee.
