    NCW Libraries is seeking applicants for a new Teen Library Council that will help develop programs and resources for teens across North Central Washington. Youth in grades 8-12 who live in Chelan, Douglas, Okanogan, Grant and Ferry counties are eligible to apply for the volunteer advisory board. Applications must be submitted by Feb. 28.     NCW Libraries has closed its 30 libraries for in-person visits starting at 1 p.m. January 20, 2021) in accordance with updated state guidelines for public libraries.     NCW Libraries has received another grant to aid in the district’s response to COVID-19. The $3,000 is funded by the federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act and was distributed through the Washington State Library (WSL). The grant is being used to enhance the library district’s digital offerings and bring informative and entertaining virtual programming to communities at a time when in-person programs are not possible.     Local kayaker Ron Hardin was the lone paddler Jan. 1 this year attending the polar plunge event at Spring Canyon; he’s hoping for more this coming New Year’s Day to join him. Hardin plans to once again join those who, without the benefit of a kayak or warm clothing, will brave the frigid conditions in a “polar plunge” on New Year’s Day at Spring Canyon.
