The 11th Annual Rattler Golf Tournament was a huge success, organizers say. The tournament held at Banks Lake Golf Course Aug. 24 had 72 golfers attend from the local community, including Nespelem, Omak/Okanogan, Wilbur, the Coulee area and visitors from the Spokane Tribe, Coeur d’Alene Tribe, Nez Perce Tribe, Yakama Tribe and Canada. A group of people have been working this summer to start a new booster club to help with equipment and other needs for Raider athletic teams. The LR Athletic Booster Club has a board of directors and all the legal paperwork completed, including having achieved non-profit legal status. Now they’re in fundraising and membership-expansion mode. The Bowman Electric softball team Saturday emerged the champions from this year's Grand Coulee Dam Area Adult Summer Softball League's 2019 Kenny Hearne Summer Classic Softball Tournament, following the season that spanned the summer. Lake Roosevelt’s Darin Whiteman tied for 12th place at the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association State Golf Tournament at Tumwater Valley Golf Club, held May 21-22. “Darin performed extremely well under intense pressure conditions,” said Raider Coach Steve Files. Darin Whiteman qualified for the state golf tournament Monday in Pasco at the District 5-6 tourney at Sun Willows Golf Course, taking sixth place in the tournament. Whiteman shot an 88 for the day, rallying after a struggle on the front nine of the par-72 course. Top honors went to Tri-Cities Prep’s Teddy Moore, who shot an 82.
