The Raiders took both the Trojans and Hornets for a ride as LR cruised to two easy wins last week.
“I thought we showed good pride in our defensive effort and execution,” Raider Head Coach Brad Wilson said.
In Tuesday’s game against Manson, the Raiders emptied the bench as they rolled the Trojans for a 90-40 victory.
Manson fell behind early and could not overcome their own mistakes to get back into the game.
Ty Egbert had complete control of the paint and racked up 24 points, including an alley-oop dunk to finish the first half.
With a lead of 35 points at the half, the Raiders needed only to continue playing their game to win. By the end of the third period, the Raiders had pushed their 52-point lead to mercy rule dimensions, in which a lead of 45 or more means the clock only stops for timeouts.
Wilson rested his starters in the fourth quarter and gave his second five more playing time, which could make the difference later on in February.
Every Raider on the varsity roster scored.
After that win, the Raiders Friday faced the Oroville Hornets at Lake Roosevelt.
A fast Raider tempo propelled them to a 23-9 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Raiders doubled those points in the second period while giving up 11 to head into halftime with a 46-20 lead.
The Hornets after halftime sparked a 7-0 run, and it appeared that Oroville was about to come back into the game.
LR put an end to that with a 10-minute run, allowing Oroville to score only two more points in the game.
The Raiders’ second five, for the second time in a week, played out the fourth in another blowout victory, 72-29.
“We did a good job getting quality possessions … and finished with only six turnovers,” Coach Wilson said.
Ty Egbert was again unchallenged in the paint grabbing rebounds and scoring 30 points along with five blocks. Lee Williams returned to the court in his first game of the 2011-2012 season and played good defense while contributing four points. Kramer Carlson contributed 10 assists and five points.
The Raiders were scheduled last night to meet the Mustangs in Bridgeport, who were handed a blowout loss at the LR Holiday Classic by Wellpinit, 81-15. The Raiders return to their home court Friday for a 7:30 p.m. game against the Billygoats of Pateros, whom the Raiders defeated 51-31 Jan. 7 at Pateros.
