Eagle fest

slated

for February

The Balde Eagle Festival will be held here Feb. 23, according to Janice Elvidge of the National Park Service.

The need is for volunteers and housing, Elvidge said Tuesday.

West Valley Outdoor Learning Center officials will take part this year and the Avian Mystery program will be presented by Elvidge or another person.

Other organizations taking part include the Spokane Audubon Society and the Idaho Fish and Game’s Beth Paragamian, who will do a program on raptors.

Volunteers are needed to assist presenters and housing is needed for four presenters.

The festival will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Drug

possession

brings 90 months

Judge Evan Sperline sentenced Jamie Marsh to 90 months in prison for possession of cocaine with the intent to deliver after he was convicted in a recent jury trial, according to Grant County Prosecutor Angus Lee. The prosecutor’s office had asked for a sentence of 120 months since Marsh had two prior drug convictions.

Meeting cancelled

Grant County Port District 7 commissioners will next meet Feb. 23, at 5 p.m. at the airport. The January meeting was cancelled because two of the three commissioners will be out of town.

Historic trail

Managers along the Nez Perce (Nee-Me-Poo) National Historic Trail (NPNHT) will host workshops and ask for public input on a variety of topics related to the administration of the trail.

The next session in this series of workshops is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Nez Perce Long House, in Nespelem.

The meeting will be hosted by staff from the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest and the NPNHT.

Pest board members sought

Grant County is looking for citizens to serve on its Horticultural Pest and Disease Board. Interested residents of the county, who own land within the county or are engaged in the commercial production of a horticultural product can be appointed to serve a term of two years without salary.
