Tennis drops a close one

Raider tennis lost to Entiat last Friday at Entiat by just one match on the boys’ side.

Nick Rice continues to beat Juan Vasquez 8-3.

Rice was joined by Daniel Campobasso in the victor's circle after he defeated Colter Peterson 6-1.

The Raider boys dropped both of their doubles matches played by the same team of Phoenix Shephard and Hayden Rodriques, which means that the Raiders would have to forfeit one match anyway.

Head Coach Steve Archer explains why he played the Shephard/ Rodrigues team: “We have been wanting to test Phoenix and Hayden in doubles play. So we took this match as an opportunity to try it. We learned that they are much better at singles. It was a valuable lesson.”

The Raider girls continue to struggle to find wins.

Emily Williams, in singles actio,n was the only victor for the Raiders on the night. Williams defeated Christy Younger by the score of 8-4.

In doubles action, the the closest match for the night was the team of Holly Jo Carriere and Nicole Baker who lost to Tirrell Buckingham/Talia Oldham by only 6-4 in both sets.

Raider tennis had only one match this week, last night at home against Wilson Creek.

The Raiders are now preparing for the first round of districts, which start on May 12. The location is not yet known.
