Loren Albert Dotson, 69, passed away at his Electric City, Washington home Thursday morning, May 3, 2012. Loren was born August 23, 1942, in Long Beach, Calif., to Albert and Edith (Perry) Dotson. He attended grade school and high school in Winston, Ore. In 1960, he married Sherry White in Roseburg, Ore. He earned an Associates Degree in Electronics from the Oregon Institute of Technology in Klamath Falls, Ore. As a teenager, Loren earned his Amateur Radio License with the call letters K7CRE, beginning a life-long hobby. He enjoyed building and flying radio control planes with a local R/C group, photography, and visiting the Oregon Coast. Loren always loved spending time with his family.
Loren worked for Lawrence Livermore Laboratory, the University of Oregon, and the Bureau of Reclamation at Grand Coulee Dam, where he retired in 2003 as a Power Systems Craftsman. His parents and brother Jack Dotson preceded him in death.
Loren is survived by his wife Sherry Dotson; children, Lorie (Mike) Carstensen of Almira, Wash., Jim (Deborah) Dotson of Lynden, Wash., and Ken (Denise) Dotson of Sterling, Va; grandchildren, Blinn (Addie) Carstensen, Jake (fiancé Taylor Hart) Carstensen, Justin (Theresa) Carstensen, Jordan, Noah, Seth, Camille, Adam, Rose, Isaac, Gabriel, Nathan and Peter Dotson; and great-grandchildren, Blake, Brody and Trey Carstensen.
At Loren’s request, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, his family requests contributions be made to the Corinna Felker Drive Fore Cancer Fund (www.cfdfcf.org) or a charity of your choice, in memory of Loren.
