Enrollment falls
May was the second month in a row that enrollment of Grand Coulee Dam School District students fell below the budgeted projection. Student enrollment averaged 615.44 full time students in May. Last year’s May total was 625.04 and the budgeted figure this year is 620.
SHARP Kids programs planned
Students entering grades 1-4 at Center Elementary School can take advantage of a SHARP Kids art enrichment program June 18-21. Students entering grades 5-8 can take advantage of a Filmmaker’s Anonymous class during the same period.
Employees leaving
The Grand Coulee Dam School District board Monday night accepted the retirement requests of a kindergarten teacher and a middle school paraeducator. Retiring as a kindergarten teacher is Judy Chambers. Janice Archer is retiring as a paraeducator.
In other action, the board accepted the resignations of Sue Whitehouse, the Grand Coulee Dam Middle School nurse and Joe Tynan, Lake Roosevelt High School assistant football coach. Tynan stated in his letter to the district that he was interested in applying for the position again when it is advertised. Sheila Darnold was hired as the lead secretary at the middle school.
