Season over for Lady Raiders

The Lady Raiders tumultuous 2012 softball season came to an end last Tuesday at Waterville with a makeup game against the Shockers.

The game originally scheduled for spring break was moved due to makeup games against Brewster.

The game started out close with the score being 2 all at the end of the first. The Lady Raiders even had a 6-2 lead going into the bottom of the third.

That’s when the Lady Raiders’ luck ran out as the Shockers exploded for a seven-run inning, taking the lead 9-6.

In the top of the fourth, the Lady Raiders came back with two runs to give themselves a fighting chance, being only one run back,

Shockers 9 - Lady Raiders 8. The Shockers would not give LR that chance.

In the bottom of the fourth, Waterville exploited every Lady Raider mistake and could not be denied a hit as they piled on 14 runs.

The game was called after the Lady Raiders got the third Shocker out, the final score was Shockers 23, Lady Raiders 8.

The Lady Raiders finished with a 5-11 overall win-loss record.

Next season will see changes for the softball program as Pateros and Brewster move out of the Central Washington 2B. The league as of now will be left with only 8 2B schools playing softball, which could mean the Lady Raiders will have to travel to the Yakima area to White Swan and Riverside Christian for games.
