Obituary
Allen Alexander Antoine, a resident of Electric City, Wash., passed away on Sunday, May 27, 2012, in Spokane at the age of 62. Allen was born on September 2, 1949, in Vernon, B.C., the son of Alex and Irene Frances (Gabriel) Antoine.
He was raised in Danville, Wash., and attended school in Curlew, Wash. Allen graduated in 1969 from Curlew High School and then continued his education at the Big Bend Community College in Moses Lake. On Sept 10, 1970, he married Fran Robinson in Spokane. They began a family with their two children, Shelly and Jerry, and moved to Keller, Wash. Allen was the Director of the Keller Community Center for several years. He then worked at Mt. Tolman Fire Control on the Colville Indian Reservation for many years. He fought wildfires, assisted in both ground and aerial operations for controlled burns and served as a “lead man” for service crews.
Allen was later married to Sherri Clark and they had one daughter, Aleasha Rose. He retired from the Mt. Tolman Fire Control Department in October 2011. For the past 6 years, Allen has resided in Electric City with his close friend and fiancée, Linda Palmer.
Allen was a very talented athlete from the time of his youth. He often played on the softball and basketball town teams and traveled to play at several athletic events especially Hoopfest in Spokane. Allen also enjoyed watching sporting events and rarely missed a State “B” basketball tournament. Allen was an exceptional pool player and enjoyed pool tournaments as well as just shooting a game with friends.
Allen is survived by his three children, Shelly Antoine, Elk, Wash .; Jerry Antoine and his wife, Shannon, Kettle Falls, Wash .; Aleasha Rose Antoine, Minot, N.D .; grandchildren: Marisa, Cierra, Lakota, Shawnee, Shantah, Cheyenne and Neveah; siblings: Victor, Lorraine, Christine, Bernadine, Sonny, Cyril, Lucille, Linda, Chester and Matilda and his fiancée, Linda Palmer, Electric City, as well as many nieces and nephews.
The services for Allen A. Antoine were held at the Keller Community Center beginning with the Rosary and Vigil on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 31, 2012. Services concluded with a graveside at the San Poil Cemetery in Keller. Memorial contributions may be given to the charity of your choice.
