Grand Coulee Police

8/4 - A woman on Goodfellow in Electric City told police that she thought her live-in boyfriend was making homemade explosives in the laundry room. Police found cardboard tubes and multiple small kegs of black and gun powder. She said her boyfriend had a compound in Omak where she said he had a “bunker type” structure half buried in the ground. Police are forwarding the information to Omak officials.

8/10 - Police checked on a dog in a car while its owner was on a tour of Grand Coulee Dam. The reporting party was afraid that it was too hot in the car for the dog. The report stated that all the windows in the car were down about three inches. The officer said he stuck his hand inside the car and it didn’t appear to be too hot. He did advise the owner of the dog of the danger of leaving a dog in a car when it is hot outside.

8/11 - A Yakima driver was stopped for not wearing his seat belt and the officer found he had a loaded .45 caliber pistol and a .223 caliber rifle loaded in his vehicle. He said he had been at a work site at the Coulee Dam project. He was cited for the seat belt violation, no insurance and possession of loaded guns in his vehicle. He had a concealed weapon permit.

- A woman walking her two dogs in Electric City on Park Avenue, said a dog jumped the fence and came at her dogs, ending up chomping a gob of hair off one dog. The officer checked the location but couldn’t find the dog.

8/12 - A caller advised that a woman wanted on a warrant was in a vehicle headed to Grand Coulee area. An officer stopped the vehicle as it entered Electric City and arrested the wanted woman, a passenger.

- Police were advised by Plant Protection that a vehicle was past the barricade on the lower river road. The officer found a woman with a Texas driver’s license inside the vehicle and two others down at the water’s edge fishing. They were told they were in a restricted area and left without incident.

8/13 - Police arrested a woman on a domestic violence charge on Park Avenue in Electric City. While at the jail she told the officer that her husband had also hit her.

8/14 - Someone moved some construction materials with nails in them out into the street from the Methodist Church, police were told.

8/15 - Plant Protection advised police that a contractor had a box in the back of his pickup and officials were concerned that the driver might be removing material belonging to the government. The box was empty.

- Colville Tribal Police called for help because of a bomb threat at the Okanogan Casino. The call didn’t meet the criteria for the bomb dog to go out, the police report stated.

8/16 - Police arrested an Electric City woman on a warrant and took er her jail

- A 4-year old child ended up at the police station after he had walked away from his residence on Federal Avenue. His mother said she went into the bathroom and when she came out the boy was missing. Police are a reporting it to Child Protective Services.
