Chamber to Meet at Eagles Lodge

Grand Coulee Chamber will meet Thursday, Sept. 6,at noon at the Eagles Lodge in Grand Coulee.

Grant County Mosquito Dist. 2 to Meet

Grant County Mosquito District No. 2 will hold its regular monthly meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 5, (tonight) at 7 p.m. at the Electric City Fire Department.

Meal Benefits the Care & Share Food Bank

Eagles Lodge will be hosting a food drive for the Care and Share Food Bank to help stock the bank’s shelves. It will be held Sunday, Sept. 9, from 2 to 7 p.m., a chicken dinner including baked, fried or BBQ chicken, potato salad, baked beans and dessert will be offered for $5 plus a non-perishable food donation. Proceeds will go to the Care and Share Food Bank. Everyone is welcome.

Historical Society to Hear About Ivory

Antique collector Jack Park will address the The Grant County Historical Society during lunch, following the society’s regular monthly meeting next Tuesday. He will give some history of ivory and have pieces of ivory items that he has in his collection as well as some photos.

Guests are welcome for lunch and stay to listen to the presentation. The meeting takes place Sept. 11 at 11 a.m. at the Ephrata American Legion Post, 276 8th Ave NW, Ephrata. Lunch follows at noon.

Natural and Cultural History Offered

at Dry Falls Center

The natural and cultural history of the Dry Falls area can be explored Sept 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. through displays by the Wanapum Heritage Center and the Ice Age Floods Institute.

Visitors may explore the Wanapum Native American Discovery Unit and talk with tribal educators about the rich history of the Wanapum tribe. Visitors also may learn about the historic floods that shaped North America through an interpretive display by the Ice Age Floods Institute.

Admission is free. The Discover Pass is required for vehicle access to the event.

Eagles #2577 Meetings

The Eagles #2577 Aerie meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month. The next meeting is September 11 at 7 p.m. The Auxiliary meets the first and third Tuesday of every month. Next meeting is scheduled for September 18.

Care and Share Food Bank Open

The food bank at the Church of the Nazarene normal operating hours are the second and fourth Mondays from 2 to 4 p.m. It is located at the Church of Nazarene, hwy 174, Grand Coulee. The bank still can use clean plastic grocery bags.

Library has Story Time

The Grand Coulee Library Story time is every Friday at 10:30 a.m. Regular library hours are Mondays and Thursdays 12:30 - 5:30 p.m.; Tuesdays 12:30 - 7:30 p.m. and Wednesdays and Fridays 9:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.

Local AA Meetings

Confused in the Coulee AA meetings are held on Mondays at 7 p.m., Friday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 9 a.m.. at the Vets Center in Electric City. Call Paul 633-3377 days or 633-3345 evenings. New Hope Group meetings are held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Vets Center. For more information call John 633-2448. These are open, non-smoking and handicap accessible.

In Nespelem the group Bound and Determined holds its meetings Monday evening at 7 p.m. at the Catholic Church. Contact Myrna 634-4921 for more information there.

Seniors Have Wheelchairs, Crutches Available

Through the Grand Coulee Dam Senior Center a program is available to members and other persons who for a short time need a wheel chair, walkers, crutches, canes, bath stools and other items of this type.

For those who have any of the above items that are from the center and no longer used please return. If you have any of the above items in good condition and would like to donate them to the center, it would be extremely appreciated. For those who cannot deliver, pickup is available.
