Larry W. Hall, Sr., 69, of Electric City, peacefully passed away Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane. Larry was born on October 3, 1942, to Ruby and Ernest Hall of Omak, Wash.
Larry entered the Navy in 1959 and rose to the rank of Lt. Commander before retiring after 22 years of service. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and received several service commendations, including the Silver Star for gallantry in action. The Silver Star is the third-highest combat military decoration that can be awarded to a member of any branch of the United States armed forces for valor in the face of the enemy.
After returning home to Washington, he worked for the Colville Confederated Tribes as Program Manager for the Information Technology department, and during that time he steered the development of technology services for Tribal Programs across the Colville Reservation. His career with the Tribe spanned over 20 years, and he was recognized as both Employee of the Year and Supervisor of the Year for his dedicated service.
Larry is survived by his children: Stephen Hall of Brewster, Larry Hall, Jr. of Kennewick, Dee Dee Martinez of Bridgeport and Corey Hall, currently on deployment in Italy; and numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Larry was preceded in death by his daughter Yvonne Hall, his brother Lee Hall, and his parents Ruby Shaffer and Ernest Hall.
A memorial service will be held at 1p.m., Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, at the Senior Center in Grand Coulee. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Larry’s memory to Sacred Heart Medical Center at http://www.shmc.org.
