News, views and advertising of the Grand Coulee Dam Area
Susan Miller is retiring this week after serving 14 years as manager of the Grand Coulee Dam Area Chamber of Commerce.
It was her day, last Thursday, as members met at the Eagles Lodge to say farewell to the popular Electric City resident.
She was congratulated by chamber president Scott Hunter who laughingly referred to her “long lists” from which she worked. “We probably will be finding some of these lists for a long time,” he said.
Prior to the past 14 years, Miller worked eight years for The Star newspaper, where she sold advertising.
The noon meeting was filled with reminders of some of her activity at the chamber and the opening of gifts and thank you cards.
Miller often stated that this was “my town” and that she plans to be here to do volunteer work.
She was awarded a lifetime membership in the chamber by the chamber board of directors.
Miller, along with her day-by-day duties, was instrumental in managing the various festivals that are put on by the chamber and called a number of the vendors as personal friends.
The chamber manager duties will now fall on Peggy Nevsimal, who will take over the position this week.
Nevsimal has been assistant manager at Sunbanks Lake Resort, and has a long history in marketing, including 16 years with the Chicago Tribune.
