Rodney “Rod” Wayne Green

Obituary

All are invited to a Memorial Celebration of Rodney“Rod” Wayne Green’s life to be held in a place he loved - the main arena of the Grand Coulee, Washington Ridge Rider Rodeo Grounds at 1 p.m., Saturday, September 29, 2012.

On Monday, September 10, 2012, Rod, 50, quietly passed away in Grand Coulee, surrounded by his loving family following a courageous battle with cancer. Rod was born in Coulee Dam, on May 18, 1962, just minutes apart from his twin brother Ron.

A graduate of Lake Roosevelt High School where he was a standout wrestler, Rod was always active and loved to make people laugh, and for eight years put these attributes to good use as a rodeo clown in Grand Coulee and throughout eastern Washington. Rod and his family lived in Newberg, Ore., the past 20 years where he was proud of his work as a mechanic for Les Schwab Tire, and so enjoyed attending Northside Community Church. He was always extremely positive, never knew a stranger and loved dancing – especially western swing. When not socializing with anyone who crossed his path, Rod loved spending time in the mountains camping and hunting, especially in the Oregon Cascades and Trask Mountain and fishing whereever they were biting.

Rod’s legacy lives on through his children: Brettney Michelle Green and Nick McGraw; father Ray Green (Brenda); mother Marie Estes (Robert); twin brother Ron D. Green; sister Debbie Akin (Tom); six nieces and nephews and his many, many friends.

His family requests that any donations be made in Rodney’s name to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718 or at http://www.cancer.org

An on-line register book will be available at http://www.stratefuneralhome.com

Strate Funeral Home of Grand Coulee, is honored to be serving Rod’s Family.
