Petersons receive mission call

Long-time Coulee Dam residents, L. Kent and Linda Peterson, have received a mission call from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Their service will be for a duration of 18 months at the church headquarters in Salt Lake City, Utah. Their primary assignment will be in the language production resources division as interpreter coordinators.

Mr. Peterson is retired from the USBR and served as Bishop of the L.D.S. congregation in Coulee Dam for just under eight years. Mrs. Peterson recently retired after many years with the GCD School District.

The LDS Church has a worldwide membership of 15 million, with 268,000 members in Washington state. The church also has 55,000 lay missionaries in the world, dealing with 176 languages. The Petersons reported for their mission duties September 17 at the Provo Utah Missionary Training Center, one of 15 in the world.
