Where have all the flowers gone?

Letters to the Editor

Dozens of concerned people have asked me this past summer, “What’s wrong with the Credit Union, where we had for years a showcase of beautiful flowers? Everyone talked about them. Beauty and variety in landscaping makes people happy and attracts customers to your business. Now though, a Credit Union member said, they must not want people coming around there any more.” Which seems sad.

A lot of the flowers I had dug from Credit Union members’ yards. People like: Dennis and Sandy King, Fred and Barbara Meyers, Jo Ayers, Bill and Betty Miller, Walt and Carol Netzel, Bill and Vivian Dugan, David and Bonny Schmidt, just to name a few. Also, we had a variety of beautiful irises donated by Merle Roberts, a local resident who is a world prize-winning iris breeder.

All this is gone now, which is a shame. Too bad the Credit Union board members did not put a stop to it. Now we have rocks … which is quite like filling the Cole Park swim pool with sand. One more wonderful Coulee Dam memory is just gone now.
