Grand Coulee Police
11/18 - Police confronted a driver known to have a suspended license. He said he had a new license. When asked for his new license the driver produced a license issued in 2009. The man couldn’t produce an insurance card, and will likely be charged with driving without a valid license, driving while suspended, having no insurance and giving false statements to an officer. The man’s mother came to take control of the car.
- A motorist was stopped because his license tabs didn’t correspond to the vehicle he was driving. The officer found that the car had been recently purchased but the registration was not changed. The driver was advised to take care of the problem, and then got a ticket for not having insurance.
- A bartender at an Electric City tavern called police to say that he had found a baggie with a crystal-like substance in it. The officer picked it up and entered it in the department’s evidence room.
11/19 - An officer stood by in the Coulee Medical Center’s emergency room where a patient was reportedly combative. The man had been brought in by Tribal Police because he had suicidal tendencies. While enroute to the hospital he had damaged an officer’s car.
11/20 - A bartender at The Wolf’s Den reported that a man was pounding on the door and wouldn’t go away. The officer learned that the man was banned from the place and had been drinking there. When further service was denied, the man left, then returned and pounded on the door. He was told if he came back he would be arrested.
- An officer driving on Stevens Street in Electric City saw a man driving who was wanted on a warrant. He was taken to Grant County Jail. A licensed driver took charge of the vehicle.
- Dispatch advised that there was a woman in trouble near The Fusion restaurant in Electric City. Police found the woman under a tree and she told them that she was on her way to the laundromat in Grand Coulee and needed to rest. Police cancelled the ambulance call and gave the woman a courtesy ride to her destination.
- A clerk at a store in Grand Coulee advised police that two men were walking back and forth in the parking lot and she thought it suspicious. Police confronted the pair who said that as soon as they put antifreeze in the vehicle they would head out.
- A person reported that they had found a black case containing an AC/DC lighter, pink straw, syringe, glass pipe with blue color and residue, a clear/broken glass pipe, foam, plastic bag with crystal type substance and a pink cloth with Lewis County on it. All the items were destroyed by police.
11/20 - Police were called to an Electric City house on West Grand Avenue where there was a report of a dispute between two youth. The officer found that one had a warrant out for his arrest and took him to the Grant County juvenile facility.
11/21 - Police checked on a helicopter at the Grand Coulee Dam Airport and when the officer arrived the copter took off to the south and then turned to the north. The unit landed again later and police found that it was an army helicopter.
11/22 - As an officer patrolled Alcan Road, he recognized a woman walking along the roadway as a person wanted on a warrant. He arrested her and reportedly found a smoking device with methamphetamine traces. She was taken to jail on the warrant, and charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia was added to her arrest.
11/23 - An argument over the Apple Cup football game placed an Electric City woman in Grant County Jail for slapping her boyfriend. Police were called to the School Avenue Electric City home where a broken picture frame and fresh flowers the man had purchased for the woman were tossed outside. The woman was booked on domestic violence in the fourth degree. Enroute to jail the woman slipped one of her handcuffs off and got sick and vomited in the back of the patrol car. She told the officer that she had swallowed one of her rings and it was lodged in her throat. An ambulance was called, and the woman was returned to Grand Coulee for treatment and later taken to jail.
11/24 - Police saw a person driving while his license was suspended and followed him until the vehicle stopped to issue the man a ticket. A man exited the house and started calling the officer names. With the man were two dogs, one running loose, and the man was told he was violating a city ordinance allowing his dog to run loose. The man continued calling the officer names until he backed into the house.
11/25 - Police checked on a report of horses on highway 174. The owner of the horses told police that someone had cut the gate which allowed the horses to get free.
- Plant Protection advised police of two individuals fishing in a restricted area at North Dam Park. The two were advised to leave and did so.
11/26 - A 16-year-old was arrested and taken to Grant County Juvenile facility after allegedly taking a vehicle without permission and driving it around town. The vehicle was taken from an Electric City residence where the officer arrived just after the boy returned it.
Coulee Dam Police
11/19 - Police discussed with school officials a report of a threat made by a high school student against a teacher. The threat was made on Facebook and police got a record of the threat and the communication made with other parties. The teacher said she thought that the person was capable of carrying out the threat. The information was forwarded to the Okanogan County juvenile authorities for possible charges.
11/21 - Several youths were questioned about entering a vacated house on Central Drive and causing damage. The house was being reconditioned by the Colville Confederated Tribes whose officials were asked by police to provide an estimate of damages. The youths were identified and questioned at the middle school.
11/22 - A man on Central Drive advised police that a person had come to his door to inquire if there was any work for him to do. When he was told no, he made a threat about burning the man’s house down. Police are investigating.
- A man was arrested for violating a “no contact” order. The woman who had the court order was riding in the vehicle the man was driving. The man said the two had been camping near Nespelem. He asked the officer to let him go because the woman, from Texas, couldn’t find her way back to the campsite. The officer explained the arrest was mandated and he was taken to Okanogan County Jail.
11/25 - A woman reported that she had hit a deer with her vehicle. Tribal Police were called and dispatched the deer. The vehicle was drivable.
