Flora Elizabeth, “Lally” Dunlap, née Brim

Obituary

Flora Elizabeth, “Lally” Dunlap, née Brim (83), passed away peacefully in the company of her loving family the afternoon of Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013. She died after suffering strokes and seizures in the same Elmer City, Washington home she helped her father construct in 1947.

Born August 23, 1929, in Kirkland, Wash., to Charles Richard and Flora Harriet Brim, she graduated from Mason City High School in 1947. Lally attended Washington State University for two years. On May 29, 1949, she married Harold Eugene Dunlap (Gene).

A passionate woman with a strong faith in reason, Lally pursued knowledge and encouraged others to do the same. She enjoyed discussing philosophy, playing piano, listening to classical music and watching old movies. Lally loved the family ranch, a passion her children carry on to this day. Gardening, camping and horse activities at the ranch were among her chief pleasures. Lally knitted, sewed and adventurously tried many international dishes. Most of all, she considered caring for her family her primary role.

Preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Long and brother, Frederick Brim. Lally is survived by her husband of 64 years; their children: Flora Long (Kenneth), William Dunlap (Cathleen), Philip Dunlap, Kitty Phillips (Steve) and Pamela Dunlap-Shohl (Pete); ten grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; brother, C. Robert Brim; sister, Jo Ayers and numerous nephews and nieces.

A celebration of life for Lally is being planned. Please sign her online register book at http://www.stratefuneralhome.com.
