The Coulee Community Choir will present its Easter Concert on Sunday, March 24, at 3 p.m. at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Grand Coulee.

Complimentary refreshments will follow.

The Electric City council voted 4-1 at its meeting last Tuesday night to join the Grand Coulee Dam Area Chamber of Commerce. Councilmember Bob Rupe voted against joining when he learned that the money would come out of the city’s general fund. The council had considered the $100 joining fee at an earlier meeting but postponed action until the council could learn where the money would come from.

Cleanup

Coulee Dam

The town of Coulee Dam will have its spring cleanup April 2-5. The town crew will only pick up tree limbs that can be chipped. No return pickups will be made and the crew will not pick up tree stumps, roses, grass thatching, tires, old appliances or household garbage. Residents are asked to place all limbs nearty with butts placed toward the curb. One free pickup load will be picked up per residence. Additional information can be acquired at city hall.

The pickup schedule is as follows: April 2 - Mason City addition; April 3 - Airport addition; April 4 - Hilltop addition; and April 5 - West Coulee Dam.

Electric City’s council okayed a contract to provide support services to Grant County Fire District 14 that provides $4,200 to the city.

When Elmer City’s council on Thursday was discussing the need to get rid of an old house structure, Coulee Dam Councilmember Karl Hjorten, who was attending their meeting, said he had equipment and would be happy to help if the town had a truck and a place to dump the debris. Hjorten has an excavating company.

Okanogan County has received a $500,000 grant from the Department of Commerce to replace its 100-year-old, diesel-fueled boiler. The boiler will be replaced by modern geothermal heat pump technology. The county will receive about $128,500 energy incentive from the Okanogan County PUD to help offset the project cost. The project is expected to pay for itself through energy and operational cost savings over a period of 15 years.
