Daniel Raymond McDermott, age 51, rode into the sunset Friday, March 8, 2013, after a courageous battle with cancer. He joins his father, Sham McDermott.
Dan’s love of the outdoors -- hiking, camping and fishing with family and friends -- was second only to the freedom he experienced exploring the open road on his Harley Davidson. He was a great friend, a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers’ fan and hero to his lifelong canine companions.
Those who knew Dan would say his wit and sense of humor were legendary. They would also say his loyalty to those he loved and respected was unwavering. But mostly, they would say to know Dan was to love him unconditionally.
Dan is survived by his mother Carol McDermott; and siblings Jim, Kendra, and Kyle.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Seattle, Wash., and Grand Coulee Dam. Details to follow.
As an animal lover, Dan was a passionate supporter of The Humane Society. Any donations in his memory are greatly appreciated.
