Dozens challenge for CBC offices

Thirty-three candidates have filed for seven Colville Business Council positions up for election this year.

In the Nespelem District Position 1 race, challenging incumbent Brian Nissen are Randy Laramie, Joaquin Marchand, Ricky Gabriel, Deb Louie and Myland Williams.

Challenging incumbent Andrew C. Joseph, Jr., for Nespelem District Position 2, are John St. Pierre, Charlene BearCub, Enid T. Wippel and Jonnie Bray.

Filing for Keller District Position 1, and challenging incumbent Darlene Zacherle are Sylvia Peasley, John Stensgar, Leroy Jerred, Jack W. Ferguson and Vern Kheel.

Two Inchelium District incumbents, Luana Boyd Rawley and Richard A. Swan, Jr., chose not to refile for their positions.

Filing for Inchelium District Position 1 were David T. Madera, Stevey Seymour and Doug Seymour. Filing for Inchelium Position 2, were Lou Stone and Allen Hammond.

Incumbent Ernest “Sneena” Brooks, of Omak District Position 1, will face off against challengers Ricard Tupling, Shirley K. Charley, Stuart J. Sellars, Karen Condon and Duane Hall, Sr.

Running against incumbent Benny Marchand, Jr., in Omak District 2, are Michael E. Marchand, Launa L. Squetimkin, Charlene Wilson and Anne Marchand.

Certification of candidates was still going on Tuesday; however, all the candidates listed had completed and turned it the necessary filing paperwork.

The primary election is scheduled for May 4, with the general election June 15. The top two candidates in each race advance to the general election.

Half of the 14-member business council is elected each year to two-year terms. The winners in the general election will be sworn in July 11.
