Raider golf travelled to Desert Canyon on March 26 to take on the Oroville Hornets in head to head competition. The Raider boys were the only squad representing LR; the girls did not compete.
The Raiders came up short on the final score tally ( Oroville 196 - LR 225) but individual boys showed solid improvement, including Brandon Desautel, who “shaved 18 strokes off his score from our first match, very impressive,” noted Head Coach Steves Files.
Desautel shot a 47 to lead the Raiders.
Austin Rosenbaum shot a 50 at Desert Canyon, finishing second for the Raiders.
Kodie Horn made his 2013 golf season debut at the course, where he shot a 55 to come in third for the Raiders.
Alex Garcia was the fourth Raider, finishing with 73 strokes on the day. Garcia improved his score by three strokes from the first match.
The Raider golfers return to action on April 9 in Oroville against the Hornets for a chance at redemption and the Manson Trojans.
That will be the girls’ squad’s first outing. “We have quite a few girls who are new to the sport, so I’m looking forward to seeing them in action for the first time this year,” Files said.
Play starts at 2:30 p.m. at the Oroville Golf Club on the Loomis-Oroville Road.
