News, views and advertising of the Grand Coulee Dam Area
Letters to the Editor
We would like thank everyone who has helped us out since we lost our home in the fire. It was such a lonely and devastating thing to watch nearly everything we owned go up in flames.
As many of you may know, my husband and I both grew up in Brewster, and then moved to the larger town of Spokane. We missed the feeling of a small community, so when Safeway had an opening here, we moved without a thought. It only took moments following our loss to remember exactly why we wanted to be in an area like this. Even before the house was done smoldering, we had received such an outpouring of support, that it was impossible to feel alone.
It has been four weeks since the fire, and the generosity of our wonderful friends and neighbors has still not diminished. Although we would love to list everyone who has helped us, we are afraid of leaving someone out, and you all know who you are. From the generous donations of clothing, furniture and money, to the spaghetti feed and all the emotional support, we cannot begin to thank you all enough. There is no better place to live than in a community that looks after its own! This horrible experience has truly reminded us why we moved to a small town, and what it means to be part of a community.
We are currently renting a house in Coulee Dam and plan to rebuild back at North Shores. There is one last request we have. We lost all our photos in the fire, so we have set up an e-mail account whybarkphotos@gmail.com. It would be greatly appreciated if anyone with pictures of our family would email them to us. Anyone having photos or CD’s who would prefer to mail them, our current address is 801 Pine Street, Coulee Dam, WA 99116.
We have been truly touched by all the love and support!
