Chyenne Kelly-Marconi shines for Raiders

Chyenne Kelly-Marconi scored all 15 team points the Raiders received at the Clifton Larson Allen Invitational at Quincy last Saturday.

Lake Roosevelt’s standout at the big meet took home three ribbons:

• In the triple jump, Kelly-Marconi took the second-place ribbon with a career personal record jump of 33 feet, 6 inches, two feet farther than she recorded just the week before.

• In the long jump, she soared to a third-place ribbon with another career PR jump of 15-3.25. Her third ribbon came in the 300-meter hurdles, which she ran in 53.43 seconds. Kelly-Marconi just missed placing in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing 10th in 18.65 seconds.

LR had travelled to the big meet with a small group that went up against very talented opponents from larger schools. Some 22 schools ranging in size from Almira-Coulee-Hartline (B) to Lakeside (AA) took part.

Sean Waters came close to gaining points for the Raider boys. He made the finals in the shot put, but just finished short of placing, finishing ninth, throwing 38-10. Over at the discus Waters had an off day, throwing only 103-06.

Octavio Alejandre threw a career PR in the javelin, heaving it 111-04. Alejandre also threw the shot 37-06, and the discus for another career PR at 94-11.

Mikel Friedlander won her heat in the 100-meter dash in 15.32. In the 400, Friedlander ran a 71.42, a career best, and she heaved the javelin 51-03. Samantha Turner threw the discus 73-06, and the shot for 26-0.5.

Lukas Hermetz had a busy day running in the 100, 400, and 800. Hermetz finished with a career PR of 13.09 in the 100, picked up another career PR at the 400 in 61.30. In his first ever 800, Hermetz finished with a respectable 2:32.93. Josh Wilder entered unfamiliar territory, running the 200 at Quincy. He finished in 30.01. Wilder also threw the javelin for a career PR of 85-07.

Coltin Williams had a successful day in the pole vault, clearing the 8-foot standard. That is a 6-inch career PR for him. Williams also ran the 300 hurdles finishing in 54.69.

Tyler Agosto ran both the 100 and 200 at Quincy where he finished with the times of 13.84 and 29.76 respectively.

The Raiders will travel tomorrow to the Mansfield Iceberg Invitational at Mansfield High School, starting at 4 p.m. The old North Central B League will be represented at the meet with Bridgeport, Waterville, Wilson Creek, Entiat and Oroville in attendance with LR and Mansfield. Friday the Raiders will travel to Peshastin for the John Riekie Memorial Invitational with field events starting at 3:30 p.m. and running events starting at 4:30. The Raiders will see half of the Central Washington North along with most of the Caribou Trail League at this meet.
