Local serviceman nominated for fatherhood honor

Letters to the Editor

Grand Coulee area and the reaches of The Star newspaper, one of our own, and my son, Major Kevin Billups USAF, has been nominated, one of four, to win the prestigious and deserving title as 2013 MILITARY FATHERHOOD OF THE YEAR AWARD! He needs all of our help to win this title and it’s very simple. Once a day, every day, until May 12, log into the site on Facebook: 2013 Military Fatherhood of the Year Award (link is http://bit.ly/10RadNQ), and simply vote for him.

He is a wonderful, hardworking, honest, bright, a loving son, husband, brother, service member, citizen, but most of all a GREAT DADDY to his three kids, Kaeden (8) and twin daughters Alisa and Alina (6). Let’s stand behind him, Grand Coulee, and show our support. Ask everyone in your address book to please do the same. He is so deserving of this honor.

Kevin is a graduate of Lake Roosevelt High School. He enlisted and became a member of the United States Air Force right after graduation. He has worked hard, jockeying married life, becoming a father, doing military time away from home in some dangerous situations many times, but also found the stamina to attend college and earn his degrees, thus working his way up to become a major.

What a proud, hardworking man he is, one of my three sons, all of which I am proud of, and they all deserve an award for being great sons, husbands, fathers, and all around good decent men.

But Kevin has been chosen to possibly win this award, so I’m asking for all of you to take the time and vote for him. Whether he wins or not, he will always be ONE OF THE BEST, not only for 2013 but for always.

Kevin will be leaving soon to serve us and our country again in a war zone. Please vote for him, but more importantly keep him, and the rest of our service people constantly in your prayers that they return safely to their families and their country.

Becky Billups
