Golf entering the home stretch

Raider golf competed at Omak and Lake Chelan last week.

Austin Rosenbaum led the Raider boys golfers at Omak April 22, with a 111 on 18 holes, while the Raider girls were led by Tanecia Stanczak, the medalist for the day, with the score of 46 on the nine-hole course.

At Lake Chelan April 25, Rosenbaum improved his score to 99 and took home the medal. Stanczak also shot a 99 on the 18-hole course.

Head Coach Steve Files has high hopes for these two in the coming weeks.

“Stanczak and Rosenbaum both posted scores at Lake Chelan that would likely land them a spot in the state tournament if they can duplicate them in a couple weeks at the same course,” he said.

The all-around performance of the golfers pleased Coach Files.

“It was a good week for us,” he said. “Several of our golfers posted their best scores of the season and are peaking at just the right time.”

He complimented both Alex Garcia and Jordan Allen for their work effort at practice and the amount of improvement they have made over the course of the season.

Of the girls Files said, “I am also pleased with our first-year girls. … We have more girls out for golf than any other program in our league and they all have great attitudes and are eager to learn.”

Monday’s match at Moses Pointe was cancelled due to the high winds, so the first match of the week will be Thursday at Banks Lake against Oroville and Riverside Christian, starting at 2:30 p.m.
