A new gourmet hot dog restaurant, MJ’s has opened in Electric City.
The business, owned by Karyn Byam, opened July 4, after the family completely remodeled the site.
It’s located near the turn-in for SkyDeck Motel, and is the biggest little place in the area.
The restaurant, while small, gives one the feeling that it is much larger. Seating is limited to three sit down areas, and take out service is available.
The “Bistro on Banks Lake” as the Byams refer to it, has 14 different kinds of gourmet hot dogs, most a meal in themselves.
You can try a Maggie May Dog, a Sissy Ann Dog, a Roxy Belle Dog, or a Topaz Dog, all $5.99. They feature unusual trimmings including pineapple, sweet relish, sun dried tomatoes, humus, and a score of other treatments.
Other sandwiches are also available, including a Veggie Pocket, Turkey Delight and even hot pretzels.
The MJ’s menu includes take-n-bake pizzas, and there are oceans of different combinations to choose from.
Dryers ice cream in multiple flavors is also a staple of the restaurant, including milkshakes, banana splits and fountain floats.
Take out service is available by calling 633-6577.
