Port district adopts draft budget

Port District 7 approved its preliminary budget for 2014 last Thursday and has scheduled a public hearing for Oct. 24 for review and public input.

The meeting is at 5 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 24, at the airport office, the port’s normal meeting place. The public hearing will precede the port’s regular monthly meeting.

The port’s preliminary budget shows revenue of $458,000 and expenses of $440,200.

A large portion of both revenue and expenses is some $254,500 of anticipated grant monies from the Federal Aviation Administration.

The port’s major other expense is the operation of Banks Lake Golf Course. The port has operated the course for the past two years and expects to continue operation in 2014.

The preliminary budget shows projected income at the golf course in 2014 of $153,000, and expenses of $94,700.

Citizens are invited to review the 2014 budget and comment on it at the Oct. 24 meeting.
