Lady Raiders drop two matches

The Lady Raiders travelled to Liberty Bell and Pateros last week. In both cases LR came home with a loss.

At Liberty Bell Thursday, the Lady Raiders lost in four games to the Mountain Lions. After losing the first game, the Lady Raiders came back and won the second game before losing the next two.

Head Coach Nate Piturachsatit was upset with the way the girls played, but he pointed out that they still have a shot at districts if they put their minds to it.

Kayley Duclos had four kills for the Lady Raiders and Chyenne Kelly-Marconi had two.

At Pateros Saturday, the Lady Raiders faced the number-three team in the state for 1B volleyball. In the first game, Piturachsatit said, the Lady Raiders played hard and kept up with the Nannies. Then in the next two games the Lady Raiders settled in to a lower intensity of play. “It was a frustration game because we started off so well,” Piturachsatit said, noting the low serving percentage the Lady Raiders had in both matches. Kayley Duclos, Holly Jo Carriere, and Kammi Rosenbaum combined for 17 points in service against the Nannies.

The Lady Raiders still have a shot at making the Central Washington 2B Districts. To make it there, “we have to be able to score points from our offense with smart and strong attacks from the middle and the outside,” Piturachsatit said. “We have to serve more consistently, and play better defense.”

The Lady Raiders will play three matches this week. The first was scheduled at home last night against Oroville. LR travels to Bridgeport tomorrow for an important league match against the Fillies starting at 5 p.m. at Bridgeport High School. The Lady Raiders will close out the week by hosting Entiat at Gailord Nelson Gym this Saturday, starting at 5:30 p.m.
