Hit the hoops against hunger Tuesday

LR Raiders will play to raise food funds for local families

The Lake Roosevelt Raider basketball players will play against each other on Tuesday to raise funds to feed families for the holiday season.

They're hoping to raise enough to feed 50 needy families, and they're challenging the community to match their contribution.

All proceeds from the game - both from the gate and from concession sales - will go to the RAIDERS Reach Out effort.

The game starts at 6 p.m. An earlier notice had stated the game started at 7.

Bags to feed a family of four will include a turkey breast, bag of potatoes, stuffing, cranberries, corn, green beans, yams, gravy, a pound of margarine, stuffing, and mandarin oranges. They are also trying to find a way to add either rolls or a pie to the meal.

Through a generous donation from Ed's Meat Market & Harvest Foods, these bags will be available for $20 each. If you are unable to attend the charitable game but would still like to support the cause you can either send your $20 donation to Lake Roosevelt High School, with checks made out to L.R.H.S., or purchase a "RAIDERS Reach Out" gift certificate from Harvest Foods from Dec. 2nd- Dec. 20th. The students will be assembling the bags after the deadline.

Admission to the game is $3 for all ages, and no passes will be accepted at this non-league, charitable event.

Indian Tacos will be available, as well as other items in the concession stand, so you can have dinner at the game.
